Frequently
Asked
Questions.

Please email me at cedarbay.counselling@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  • What is an Integrative Counsellor?
As an ‘integrative’ therapist, I am trained in combining a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches to best help my clients. I generally use person-centred counselling alongside cognitive behaviour therapy, psychodynamic therapy and existential therapy. I want to help clients emerge from difficult moments feeling supported and stronger.
  • What is the next step?
If you feel counselling could be helpful for you, then the next step is to contact me for a consultation session. This initial consultation will be free and lasts around 15 minutes. This will give you the opportunity to talk about your difficulties and what you would like to achieve from counselling. This also gives you the chance to decide if you would like us to continue working together. My telephone number is 07395 105936. If I am not able to answer, please leave me a voicemail including your name and telephone number and I will return your call.
  • How much do you charge?
My fees are as follows: Initial consultation - (15 minutes) - Free Further sessions - (50 minutes) - £50 per session
  • Do you offer telephone or video counselling appointments?
CedarBay Counselling offers counselling sessions in person and online. If you decide that online counselling would suit you best, these sessions are carried out using Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, or Zoom. For online counselling to be effective I ask you to be in a safe, quiet and undisturbed space for your appointment. The sessions last up to 50 minutes. Make sure the device you are using for the session is charged and you are prepared by sitting somewhere comfortable and quiet. Please try to ensure you can take the call without being overheard or interrupted.
  • How many sessions will I need?
This very much depends on you and your situation so there is no definitive answer. Many people find that 10 to 12 sessions are enough. Whilst others may require longer term therapy. The number of sessions is determined by you. I will be there to support you for as long as you need.
  • How often are the sessions?
Sessions are held on a weekly basis. I would suggest we start with weekly sessions as this will be the most beneficial. But I understand this is not always convenient so we can review this if necessary.
  • Will my counselling sessions be confidential?
Yes, counselling sessions are confidential. The exception to this is if you were to pose a danger to yourself or others. In this case I would notify relevant external agencies.
  • Do you offer concessions?
Yes, I offer a limited number of online counselling sessions to students, OAPs and people on low incomes. If you require this service, please contact me and we can discuss your requirements.
